Two Lithuanian artists – in the artistic residency at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow

cca-31

This October and November two Lithuanian artists – Darius Mikšys and Darius Žiūra are participating in the artistic residencies of Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow (CCA). Both residencies come as a direct result of the research visit to Lithuania by the CCA director Francis McKee via the Visiting Experts Programme of Lithuanian Culture Institute.

CCA: Centre for Contemporary Arts is Glasgow’s hub for the arts. CCA’s year-round programme includes cutting-edge exhibitions, film, music, literature, spoken word, festivals, Gaelic and performance. Previously home to The Third Eye Centre (1975-1991), the building is steeped in history and the organisation has played a key role in the cultural life of the city for decades. CCA Glasgow operates a unique open source programming policy where it offers organisations and individuals space in the building to programme their own events. In 2015-16, CCA worked with 244 programme partners across 1,011 events and 28 festivals. In April 2015, CCA won the award for Best Cultural Venue in The Glasgow Awards highlighting the quality of the impressive programme presented by the venue and its partners.

CCA curates six major exhibitions a year, presenting national and international contemporary artists. CCA also houses Intermedia Gallery, showcasing emerging artists.

Lithuanian Cultural institute is a partner of the CCA Artist Flat residency project of Darius Mikšys and Darius Žiūra.
