The International Writers’ and Translators’ House, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, together with the Estonian Publishers’ Association and the Lithuanian Culture Institute, announces a competition to create a logotype and a slogan representing the Baltic States in the international London Book Fair 2018, in which Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be the guests of honour. The competition is open until 30th June to art professionals, and companies connected to visual identity design, based in the Baltic region. Applicants must fill in the form, and upload the sketches of the logo and the slogan at the www.latvianliterature.lv “Contest” section. Author of the best slogan and logo will receive a money prize of 1250 EUR.

In 2018, the Baltic States are going to be the Market Focus countries of the London Book Fair, which entails creating and ensuring the central 600 sq. m. exhibition stand space in the London Book Fair hall, presentations and readings of translated books, representation of achievements in printing and publishing, and design, as well as organising relevant culture events in London and elsewhere in Britain. During the fair, other events such as showcases, concerts, theatre performances, etc., are expected.

To honour this occasion, a competition has been announced to create a logo and a slogan that would serve as a mark of identity of the Baltic States during the events connected to the London Book Fair. The aim of this representation is to ensure the visibility and recognition of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania at an international level, drawing attention to the literary and publishing industries of the Baltic region. The winning ideas will be used to represent the Baltic States in all presentation materials, printed media, exhibitions, souvenirs, as well as in webspace and cityscape promotion materials, therefore the works submitted must be in line with the current design trends.

In order to enter the competition, it is necessary to fill in the application form and upload the sketches of the logo and the slogan at the www.latvianliterature.lv “Contest” section. The idea propositions will be accepted until 30th June.
