Klemen Pisk

Klemen Pisk is a Slovenian writer, translator and musician. He was born in 1973, in Krania. He made his debut as a poet on the literary scene of Slovenia with his first collection of verses Labas vakaras (1998), to be followed by Visoko in nagubano prapočelo (Tall and Wrinkled Initial Cause, 2000) and Mojster v spovednici (Master in the Confessional, 2002). His collected verses have been translated into the Polish (Tych kilka słów, 2005) and Slovakian languages (Pustovník a vlk, 2009); he also writes radio plays –  Lahko noč, Matija Čop(Goodnight, Matija Čop, 1998), short stories – Pihalec (The Blower, 2007). The short story Džizo (Džizas) was translated into the Lithuanian language by Laima Masytė and appeared in the anthology of short Slovenian prose Auksas kišenėje (Gold in the Pocket) (Lithuanian Writers Union Publishers, 2009). The author translates from the Polish and Lithuanian languages (John Paul II, Jerzy Pilch, Sigitas Parulskis, Kazys Boruta, Laura Sintija Černiauskaitė). He prepared a comprehensive collection of poetry by Czeslaw Milosz Zvonovi pozimi (Bells in Winter, 2008). As a singer, guitarist and the author of many trio songs for the orchestra Žabjak he released two CDs: Doktor piska počasni sving (The Doctor is Whistling a Slow Swing, 2001) and Aristokrat (Aristocrats, 2004). His performances abroad took place in Krakow, Gdansk, Vilnius, Warsaw, Katowice, Dubrovnik, Helsinki, Wroclaw, Brno, Prague, Frankfurt, Klagenfurt, Bratislava, Kosice, Ostrava, Sarajevo and Vienna. Form 2006 to 2009 he lived in Vilnius.
